The archive of the Society is housed in the Birchcliffe Centre, Hebden Bridge and is normally open to members on Wednesday and Thursday afternoons. Non-members who wish to visit the archive are very welcome to do so but must pay a visitor’s fee of £3.00. Our opening times can be found at Visit our archive
The archive holds a wealth of both published and unpublished material, much of which is unique, on the local area. We can offer advice and assistance to archive users researching local topics. Information requests can also be lodged via the Research service for a small fee. Our catalogue can be searched here: Catalogue search
Numbers at each session are limited and pre-booking is required by emailing the archivist.
South Pennine Archives
South Pennine Archives is a partnership between Pennine Heritage and Hebden Bridge Local History Society to collaborate on collecting, preserving and making available documents, images, recordings and artefacts relating to the history and heritage of the South Pennines, focusing on the Upper Calder Valley. The South Pennine region can be loosely defined as the upland area located between the Yorkshire Dales National Park and the Peak District National Park. The partnership is a not-for-profit association, based at the Birchcliffe Centre in Hebden Bridge.
